Note: remember when u install ubuntu u don't know the password for root :) so first login using ur username then :

it will ask u the password for ur user

HP iLO

HP iLO is integrated on HP Proliant Servers G4, G5, G6 ..... Before G4 it was Rilo (I've never seen or worked on that).
Most of rather all of my customers not using it. And many of those customers are doing jobs on their servers that can be minimized using iLO.
One of my friend; when want to shut down his server on a remote branch he had to send an IT guy to do so. And on the next morning an IT guy has to go to remote branch to start the server so that team (that is non IT) can use the services of server at that branch.
I've found some videos on the topic on youtube. May be helpful to you; who are using HP Proliant Servers.

How To Set Up Your POP/IMAP E-mail Account on a BlackBerry

You have an email account from your company or any ISP. Either it is POP3 or IMAP you can setup it on your BlackBerry.

1. Open E-mail Settings on your BlackBerry home screen.

2. Click Create New Account.

3. Click Yes to indicate you Agree to the Terms, then click I Agree.

4. On the next screen, enter your username and password for the account you plan to use and click Next.

5. On the E-mail Account Setup page, type in the e-mail address you plan to set up, as well as the password for that account, and click Next. At this point, the e-mail setup wizard will state that it is unable to configure the account you entered. Don’t worry; that’s what we’re about to fix.

6. At the current screen, select I will provide the settings to add this e-mail account, and click Next. No need to enter your e-mail address and password again; you’ll only need to if you accidentally misspelled one of them in Step 5.

7. Select the type of account you want to configure. For this purpose, we’re selecting Internet Service Provider E-mail (POP/IMAP). Click Next.

8. Click Provide the Settings on the next screen.

9. Enter in your Username, Password, and E-mail Server settings. If you don’t know what your e-mail server is, contact your ISP and ask for that information. It should be POP.Your_ISP_Name.Com or IMAP.Your_ISP_Name.com. Click Next.

10. The BlackBerry will now display that your account has been set up successfully, and you will have access to your mailbox from the BlackBerry home screen.

Integrated Lights-Out, or iLo, is an embedded server management technology exclusive to Hewlett-Packard but similar in functionality to the Lights out management (LOM) technology of other vendors.

iLO makes it possible to perform activities on an HP server from a remote location. The iLO card has a separate network connection (and its own IP address) to which one can connect via HTTPS. Possible options are:

reset the server (in case the server doesn't respond anymore via the normal network card)
power-up the server (possible to do this from a remote location, even if the server is shut down)
take over the screen
mount remote physical CD/DVD drive or image.
access the server's IML (Integrated Management Log)
remote console (in some cases however an 'Advanced license' maybe required for some of the utilities to work)

iLo is useful as an out-of-band management technology. The physical connection is an Ethernet port that can be found on most Proliant servers of the 300 and above series. This port can be enabled using the set-up utility which can be accessed with the F8 key during POST. In this screen an IP can be assigned via DHCP or static. It is also important to create a user so this utility can be accessed. Once the configuration has been done it has to be saved and the server needs to be restarted. To access the utility, be sure that a cable is connected to the iLo port on the back of the server. The iLo IP can be entered in the address bar of any web browser and a login screen will be shown; put the username and password that has just been created.

iLo provides some other utilities like virtual media (CD, floppy), virtual power and a remote console. iLo is always embedded on the System Board.

There also is a PCI expansion card available for HP servers that supports iLO. It's usually called RILOE. There is a RILOE II as well. The iLo 2 is currently available for some server models, such as the BL465c. For some of the 100 series servers and the smaller 300s that is the prime Lights out option, which has a kind of IML and limited functions.

Version 1.60 introduced the "iLO Shared Network Port" that allows remote system management to take place over the system NIC instead of the dedicated management port. This saves valuable ports in high density areas but it is limited to some specific servers. According to the Revision History for iLO version 1.60 A, "iLO Shared Network Port" is available on DL360 G4, ML370 G4, and DL380 G4. The current version for Proliant servers is version 1.89, released 5 December 2006.

A conference call is a telephone call in which the calling party wishes to have more than one called party listen in to the audio portion of the call. The conference calls may be designed to allow the called party to participate during the call, or the call may be set up so that the called party merely listens into the call and cannot speak. It is often referred to as an ATC (Audio Tele-Conference).

Conference calls can be designed so that the calling party calls the other participants and adds them to the call. In most cases, the participants are able call into the conference call themselves, by dialing into a special telephone number that connects to a \"conference bridge\" (a specialized type of equipment that links telephone lines).

Usually, most companies use a specialized service provider who maintains the conference bridge, or who provides the phone numbers and PIN codes that participants dial to access the meeting or conference call.

Three-way calling is available (usually at an extra charge) for most customers on their home or office phone line. To three way call, the first person one wishes to talk to is dialed. Then the Hook flash button is pressed and the other person\'s phone number is dialed. While it is ringing, flash is pressed again. This will put the three people together. This option allows callers to add a second outgoing call to an already connected call.

(Business 2.0 Magazine) -- Massive data centers are vital to the economy. They are also notorious power hogs. If their numbers keep growing at the expected rate, the United States alone will need nearly a dozen new power plants by 2011 just to keep the data flowing, according to the Environmental Protection Agency.

That\'s why a small server-farm company called AISO.net (for \"affordable Internet services online\") has gone completely off the grid. Located 80 miles southeast of Los Angeles in the desert hamlet of Romoland, AISO.net has flanked its 2,000-square-foot building with two banks of ground-mounted solar panels, which generate 12 kilowatts of electricity. Batteries store the juice for nighttime operation.

To slash energy consumption, AISO.net switched from 120 individual servers to four IBM blades running virtualization software that lets one computer do the work of multiple machines. The cooling system cranks up for only about 10 minutes an hour, and when the outside temperature drops to 60 degrees, air is sucked into the building to cool the servers. Solar tubes built into the roof illuminate the facility's interior.

The service is attracting plenty of eco-conscious clients. Al Gore's Live Earth concerts were webcast on AISO.net's servers in July. And San Diego startup GreenestHost is reselling AISO.net's services to mom-and-pop website operators who want to go carbon-neutral. "Small data centers could easily start to adapt and make changes like this," says AISO.net co-founder Phil Nail, who claims the project cost about $100,000.

His monthly electric bills, once as high as $3,000, have dropped to zero. Larger data centers can't match that. But Sun Microsystems (Charts, Fortune 500) did recently slash power consumption 61 percent by consolidating its Silicon Valley servers into a single state-of-the-art facility. And IBM (Charts, Fortune 500) BladeCenter VP Alex Yost sees growing demand for energy-efficient servers like the ones AISO.net uses. "It's an enormous economic opportunity," he says.

How to Become an Early Riser

- Don’t make drastic changes.
Start slowly, by waking just 15-30 minutes earlier than usual. Get used to this for a few days. Then cut back another 15 minutes. Do this gradually until you get to your goal time.

- Allow yourself to sleep earlier.
You might be used to staying up late, perhaps watching TV or surfing the Internet. But if you continue this habit, while trying to get up earlier, sooner or later one is going to give. And if it is the early rising that gives, then you will crash and sleep late and have to start over. I suggest going to bed earlier, even if you don’t think you’ll sleep, and read while in bed. If you’re really tired, you just might fall asleep much sooner than you think.

- Put your alarm clock far from you bed.
If it’s right next to your bed, you’ll shut it off or hit snooze. Never hit snooze. If it’s far from your bed, you have to get up out of bed to shut it off. By then, you’re up. Now you just have to stay up.

- Go out of the bedroom as soon as you shut off the alarm.
Don’t allow yourself to rationalize going back to bed. Just force yourself to go out of the room. My habit is to stumble into the bathroom and go pee. By the time I’ve done that, and flushed the toilet and washed my hands and looked at my ugly mug in the mirror, I’m awake enough to face the day.

- Do not rationalize.
If you allow your brain to talk you out of getting up early, you’ll never do it. Don’t make getting back in bed an option.

- Have a good reason.
Set something to do early in the morning that’s important. This reason will motivate you to get up. I like to write in the morning, so that’s my reason. Also, when I’m done with that, I like to read all of your comments!

- Make waking up early a reward.
Yes, it might seem at first that you’re forcing yourself to do something hard, but if you make it pleasurable, soon you will look forward to waking up early. A good reward is to make a hot cup of coffee or tea and read a book. Other rewards might be a tasty treat for breakfast (smoothies! yum!) or watching the sunrise, or meditating. Find something that’s pleasurable for you, and allow yourself to do it as part of your morning routine.

- Take advantage of all that extra time.
Don’t wake up an hour or two early just to read your blogs, unless that’s a major goal of yours. Don’t wake up early and waste that extra time. Get a jump start on your day! I like to use that time to get a head start on preparing my kids’ lunches, on planning for the rest of the day (when I set my MITs), on exercising or meditating, and on reading. By the time 6:30 rolls around, I’ve done more than many people do the entire day.

I had a CD of Full Quran in a very nice voice and qirat. The size of the whole 114 MP3 files was 571 MB. In old days we had 6-7 Audio CD's; thankx to MP3 format; that reduced the full Quran in only 1 CD.

Problem was that; one of my friends needed to have that Qirat in his mobile. mmm... its very larg space to fit in 512 MB of mini SD with other stuff.

Q: How to reduce the size
Ans: Convert to AMR format for Mobile.

Solution::: I searched for converter from MP3 to AMP. Many software but all limited by license. I searched for freeware and finally found very nice software "Mobile Media Converter". You can download by clicking on it.

I've been using GMail ever since they decided to allow users to download their mail using POP. I was happy reading my email as usual in mutt. The only problem was that I had to log onto the website once in a while to clear out my spam folder and fish out the false positives.

However, as the amount of spam I receive daily started growing exponentially (in part thanks to my involvement in Debian), I became more and more dissatisfied with this solution. I had to login several times a day just to keep the levels of spam down to a manageable level. I tried emailing the GMail support team a few times without success.

The solution came just as I was looking at switching to a different email provider: IMAP access.Using fetchmail, I can now download my received and sent mail using POP and then download (and purge) the contents of my spam folder. Here are the relevant lines of my ~/.fetchmailrc:
poll pop.gmail.com protocol pop3 user "fmarier@gmail.com" is "francois" password "" fetchall sslpoll imap.gmail.com protocol imap user "fmarier@gmail.com" is "francois" password "" folder "[Gmail]/Spam" fetchall sslI can then run all of my mail through my own SpamAssassin filter (to which I added these excellent custom rules) and sort my mail in one of three folders:
definitely spam (conveniently located in /dev/null) for a score greater than 12
probably spam (I need to check those manually once in a while)
not spam for messages with a score less than 5This is done using procmail with the following bit in my ~/.procmailrc:

UNetbootin is a tool that allows you to install various Linux distributions (Ubuntu, Fedora, Mandriva, OpenSuSE, Debian, ArchLinux) from a Windows or a Linux desktop over the internet (i.e., you don't need to burn the Ubuntu, Fedora, ... CDs). Unlike the Ubuntu installation with Wubi, real partitions are created during the installation. In the end, you have a dual-boot system (Linux/Windows or Linux/Linux).
This document comes without warranty of any kind! I want to say that this is not the only way of setting up such a system. There are many ways of achieving this goal but this is the way I take. I do not issue any guarantee that this will work for you!

1 Preliminary Note
In this tutorial I'm going to show you how to install Ubuntu Feisty Fawn and Fedora 7 from a Windows XP machine. The other supported distributions can be installed the same way. Of course, you can as well install the supported distributions from a Linux system instead of Windows - all UNetbootin packages are available as .exe (Windows), .deb (Debian/Ubuntu), and .rpm (Fedora, CentOS, OpenSuSE, Mandriva, PCLinuxOS, ...) files - just install the appropriate package for your system.
UNetbootin is very similar to the Debian-Installer Loader. The difference is that UNetbootin supports multiple distributions and can be used on Windows and Linux systems.

2 Installing Ubuntu Feisty Fawn
Visit http://lubi.sourceforge.net/unetbootin.html and click on the Download link. On the SourceForge download page, you can find packages for all Linux distributions that you can install with UNetbootin. Select the package for Ubuntu 7.04:

On the next page, you can find the UNetbootin package for Ubuntu 7.04 for various systems (.deb for Debian/Ubuntu, .rpm for Fedora, CentOS, OpenSuSE, Mandriva, PCLinuxOS, .exe for Windows, and .sh for Linux distributions that don't use .deb or .rpm. Select the .exe package and download it to your hard drive:

Afterwards, open the Windows Explorer and go to the folder where you've stored UNetbootin. Click on it to start the UNetbootin installation:

After the installation, you're asked to reboot the system. Do so now:

When the system reboots, you should now see the Windows boot menu. Select Ubuntu and press ENTER:

Does your car have remote keyless entry? This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone: If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone at home on their mobile phone from your cell phone.
Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on their end. Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having to
drive your keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other 'remote' for your car, you can unlock the doors (or the trunk).

THIRD Hidden Battery Power

Imagine your mobile battery is very low. To activate, press the keys *3370# Your mobile will restart with this reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery. This reserve will get charged when you charge your mobile next time.

FOURTH How to disable a STOLEN mobile phone?

To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in the following digits on your phon! e: * # 0 6 #
A 15 digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe. When your phone get stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally useless. You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can't use/sell it either. If everybody does this, there would be no point in people stealing mobile phones.

Changing Hardware

Question: We have Parent-Child domain structure on windows 2003 environment. We want primary Domain Forest (Primary Doman Controller) to be changed with same computer and IP on other hardware, because due to some hardware issue we want to move existing hardware with new one. Now we want same computer and IP on this new machine. What practicle approach we will follow to perform this task?

Boot Camp supports the most popular 32-bit releases of Windows XP and Windows Vista. When you use either operating system on your Mac, your Windows applications will run at native speed. Windows applications have full access to multiple processors and multiple cores, accelerated 3D graphics, and high-speed connections like USB, FireWire, Wi-Fi, and Gigabit Ethernet.

When you're ready for Windows, the Boot Camp Assistant sets up your hard drive for you. This is similar to installing Ubuntu Linux on a Windows Machine.

Linux Directory Structures

The directory structure of Linux/other Unix-like systems is very intimidating for the new user, especially if one is migrating from Windows.
In Windows, almost all programs install their files (all files) in the directory named: `Program Files.’ Such is not the case in Linux. The directory system categorises all installed files. All configuration files are in /etc, all binary files are in /bin or /usr/bin or /usr/local/bin. Here is the entire directory structure along with what they contain:

/ - Root directory that forms the base of the file system. All files and directories are logically contained inside the root directory regardless of their physical locations.

/bin - Contains the executable programs that are part of the Linux operating system. Many Linux commands, such as cat, cp, ls, more, and tar, are locate in /bin

/boot - Contains the Linux kernel and other files needed by LILO and GRUB boot managers.

/dev - Contains all device files. Linux treats each device as a special file. All such files are located in /dev.

/etc - Contains most system configuration files and the initialisation scripts in /etc/rc.d subdirectory.

/home - Home directory is the parent to the home directories of users.

/lib - Contains library files, including loadable driver modules needed to boot the system.

/lost+found - Directory for lost files. Every disk partition has a lost+found directory.

/media - Directory for mounting files systems on removable media like CD-ROM drives, floppy disks, and Zip drives.

/mnt - A directory for temporarily mounted filesystems.

/opt - Optional software packages copy/install files here.

/proc - A special directory in a virtual filesystem. It contains the information about various aspects of a Linux system.

/root - Home directory of the root user.

/sbin - Contains administrative binary files. Commands such as mount, shutdown, umount, reside here.

/srv - Contains data for services (HTTP, FTP, etc.) offered by the system.

/sys - A special directory that contains information about the devices, as seen by the Linux kernel.

/tmp - Temporary directory which can be used as a scratch directory (storage for temporary files). The contents of this directory are cleared each time the system boots.

/usr - Contains subdirectories for many programs such as the X Window System.

/usr/bin - Contains executable files for many Linux commands. It is not part of the core Linux operating system.

/usr/include - Contains header files for C and C++ programming languages

/usr/lib - Contains libraries for C and C++ programming languages.

/usr/local - Contains local files. It has a similar directories as /usr contains.

/usr/sbin - Contains administrative commands.

/usr/share - Contains files that are shared, like, default configuration files, images, documentation, etc.

/var - Contains various system files such as log, mail directories, print spool, etc. which tend to change in numbers and size over time.

/var/lock - Contains lock files which are checked by applications so that a resource can be used by one application only.

/var/log - Contains log files for differenct applications.

/var/mail - Contains users’ emails.

/var/opt - Contains variable data for packages stored in /opt directory.

/var/run - Contains data describing the system since it was booted.

/var/spool - Contains data that is waiting for some kind of processing.

/var/tmp - Contains temporary files preserved between system reboots.

VMware with Virtual Network Switch

I was running Ubuntu in my VMware (Virtual Machine Ware).But to communicate between the Real and Virtual Machines I had to connect my Real Network card to a switch. But I didn’t have one :(

As in my last article How to make your own network cable. I used a technique:
I always keep a cross cable with me in my Notebook bag. I saw in my drawer there was an I/O (Avaya) that was taken out from the office of UNICEF when we were doing cabling of their new office at Karachi. I took that and shorted connection 1 with 3, and connection 2 with 6. That is used in cross cable.
See pictures of how I connected the real and virtual machines. And closer look at the network I/O gradually :)

And it worked. Both my real and Virtual Machines they’ve found a network cable connected.

I gave IP’s to both of them and enjoyed communicating between the two machines.

How to Make Your Own Network Cables - Network Cable Color Code Standards

Again, please bear with me... Let's start with simple pin-out diagrams of the two types of UTP Ethernet cables and watch how committees can make a can of worms out of them. Here are the diagrams:

Note that the TX (transmitter) pins are connected to corresponding RX (receiver) pins, plus to plus and minus to minus. And that you must use a crossover cable to connect units with identical interfaces. If you use a straight-through cable, one of the two units must, in effect, perform the cross-over function.
Two wire color-code standards apply: EIA/TIA 568A and EIA/TIA 568B. The codes are commonly depicted with RJ-45 jacks as follows (the view is from the front of the jacks):

If we apply the 568A color code and show all eight wires, our pin-out looks like this:

Note that pins 4, 5, 7, and 8 and the blue and brown pairs are not used in either standard. Quite contrary to what you may read elsewhere, these pins and wires are not used or required to implement 100BASE-TX duplexing--they are just plain wasted.
However, the actual cables are not physically that simple. In the diagrams, the orange pair of wires are not adjacent. The blue pair is upside-down. The right ends match RJ-45 jacks and the left ends do not. If, for example, we invert the left side of the 568A "straight"-thru cable to match a 568A jack--put one 180° twist in the entire cable from end-to-end--and twist together and rearrange the appropriate pairs, we get the following can-of-worms:

This further emphasizes, I hope, the importance of the word "twist" in making network cables which will work. You cannot use an flat-untwisted telephone cable for a network cable. Furthermore, you must use a pair of twisted wires to connect a set of transmitter pins to their corresponding receiver pins. You cannot use a wire from one pair and another wire from a different pair.
Keeping the above principles in mind, we can simplify the diagram for a 568A straight-thru cable by untwisting the wires, except the 180° twist in the entire cable, and bending the ends upward. Likewise, if we exchange the green and orange pairs in the 568A diagram we will get a simplified diagram for a 568B straight-thru cable. If we cross the green and orange pairs in the 568A diagram we will arrive at a simplified diagram for a crossover cable. All three are shown below.
